Great old mauchline ware piece in the form of a book or Bible depicting the second mission founded in California by Father Junipero Serra, 1770....the mission itself is named for Saint Charles Borromeo, but is naively identified on the piece as "Miss. St Carmelo 1770"......also known as Carmel Mission Basilica, it's located at the present Rio Road and Lasuen Drive, Carmel, California.....4" x 3.25" x .8.75".....the book does not open as the pages between the wooden covers appear to be made from a nineteenth century sheet of cork.....quite rare I think....
