ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This a wonderful and hard to find Laughing Boy mechanical walking doll WITH WORKING CRIER! It was made by Gerbruder Heubach in about 1910, and uses the very popular mold #7604 of a laughing child. He has a solid domed bisque socket head with sculpted blonde boyish hair, intaglio blue eyes, short one stroke brows, and a big smiling and laughing open closed mouth (modeled as though open). Looking in his mouth reveals his tonge and two teeth. The rear of his head is marked , the square Heubach mark, and 7604. He is dressed as a boy would have been in 1910; as all infants and toddlers still in diapers wore dresses. It is a 3 layered outfit of a white apron, blue with white polka dots dress, and a white underskirt. The outfit is in excellent condition, but does have a few yellowed spots from age. His arms are replacements, made of kid leather. This is how I purchased him, so I don't know when they were added. The paper mache, cloth, and wooden body form, houses the mechanism that winds with an attached key. At the bottom are the wheels that allow the doll to walk in circles as he cries ma. The mechanism is in excellent condition, as exhibited by the You Tube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg_sT2z_wLo . The bisque Heubach head was most likely made for Zinner and Sohne, well known for their mechanicals. This is a hard to find mechanical doll. Please see the pictures as they are part of the description. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Within the USA: I ship Priority Mail with insurance and tracking.
