1930s Kentucky Derby Gambling Dice Countertop Game
Item: 1930s Kentucky Derby Gambling Dice Countertop Game
A trade stimulator dating from the 1930s, this mechanical game would have been a common sight, sitting on the bar top at the neighborhood pub. It has a plywood base, marbled tin side panels, and a glass top, under which a black and silver panel, inscribed Kentucky Derby A Game For Amusement, is adorned with images of race horses with their odds listed below them. A green felt lined dish holding a pair of numbered dice, spins when a lever on the side is pushed. A thinly veiled gambling device, winners were often rewarded with free drinks. The game measures 8 3/8 inches tall by 10 3/8 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches deep and is in excellent, working condition with scratches and wear on the outside and peeling chrome on the rim of the dish inside. The manufacturer's label that was on the bottom is missing. 17193-81EPP
