ALI VS FRAZIER CLOSED CIRCUIT TICKET STUB 1ST FIGHT 1971 EXC
Item: ALI VS FRAZIER CLOSED CIRCUIT TICKET STUB 1ST FIGHT 1971 EXC
MUHAMMAD ALI VS JOE FRAZIER CLOSED CIRCUIT TICKET STUB 1ST FIGHT STANLEY THEATRE. Here is a very clean ticket stub for the first Ali Frazier fight billed "The Fight of the Century". It was the boxing match between WBC/WBA heavyweight champion Joe Frazier (26–0, 23 KOs) and The Ring/lineal heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali (31–0, 25 KOs), held on Monday, March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was the first time that two undefeated boxers fought each other for the heavyweight title. Frazier won in 15 rounds via unanimous decision. It was the first of a trilogy, followed by the rematch fights Super Fight II (1974) and Thrilla in Manila (1975), both won by Ali. Here is a very rare stub from the closed circuit telecast held at the Stanley Theatre in Jersey City NJ 48 years ago. Pictures both fighters on a clean non faded ticket. There is no creases in this ticket which is rare since they were either thrown away or folded and put into a pocket. The back has a signature, not sure who. The stub is almost 4 inches long X 2 inches wide. I have not found any closed circuit tickets from the long gone Stanley Theatre. A rare find. Shipping is free. Please ask any question that you may have. Thank you, Dave Note: Some of the closeups look faded, that is due to my camera and lighting. The ticket is strong pink, see last two pictures.
