ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Offering a plastic Christmas light shade made of General Electric Textolite material. In 1923 a boxed set of 8 these shades featuring Barney Google and Popeye were introduced. I am not sure if GE actually made them but GEs Textolite material was used as the material. The shades would go over the old Christmas tree light bulbs (the big bulbs). The Barney Google comic strip was started in 1919. On the shade are two decals of the comic strip charter Barney Google and his wife Mrs. Lizzie Google (aka the sweet woman). Shade is 1 5/8 inches in diameter at the bottom and 1 5/8 inches tall. One decal has the GE logo down in the lower right corner and the other decal has K.F.S. (King Features Syndicate) in the upper left corner. If you had a string of Christmas lights on your tree in 1923 with these shades you had arrived. Condition is excellent with only a minor piece of decal missing. pc421
