Dating from around the turn of the 20th century, this paper label came off of a wooden tobacco crate. It has a wonderful image of a pair of humming birds buzzing around a block of chewing tobacco that is surrounded by blooming trumpet vines, magnolias, and roses. The label is inscribed Chew Sweet Morsel The Best Navy Tobacco The World Ever Saw. Manufactured by Jas. Leigh Jones Richmond, VA. The label measures about 10 1/4 inches square and is in excellent condition with a half inch area of loss in the upper right corner and minor discoloration. It is displayed in a 16 inch by 16 inch frame. This piece and many of our new listings are fresh to the market and have been in a collection for many years. We were honored that we were able to buy the complete collection and offer to other collectors for sale. It has been nicely matted and framed for display. 16457-71QPP
