ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Dating from the first decade of the 20th century, this cardboard counter display box has a label attached to the underside of the lid, which is held open with a strap, inscribed Chiclets the Checherberry kind (Wintergreen Flavor.) A Dainty Confection Candy Coated Chewing Gum Particularly desirable after dinner Made by the makers of Fleers Pepsin Gum Their Best Recommendation and decorated with the Chiclets gold seal logo. A glass inner lid protected the loose pieces of gum that were displayed in the box originally. The outside of the box is wrapped in green paper decorated with a pattern of leaves, berries, and Chiclets seals. Open, it measures about 8 1/2 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 8 inches deep and is in excellent condition with edge and corner wear, some areas of fading, and a little staining and discoloration. 1256-81IT
