Item:
Planters Mr. Peanut 1930s Counter Display Box Rare
Item Condition:
good
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Rare circa 1930s cardboard display box that held twenty-four 5c bags of Planters Peanuts. It is deep orange with blue trim and has wonderful graphics on the lid. There are images of Mr. Peanut flying a biplane, flying a kite, parachuting, playing baseball, standing at a microphone, and reclining and smoking a cigar. On the sides of the box are images of Mr. Peanut driving a peanut shaped car, riding a bicycle, halting traffic at a stop sign and dancing to a jazz duo. There is an inscription on the top of the lid asking retailers to use the display box because the name and the familiar figure of Mr. Peanut inspire confidence and more bags of peanuts would sell out of the box than from a pile. The box is in good condition with torn corners, soiling, and edge wear as shown in photos. 13130-21QPP
DIMENSIONS: 8.75" tall by 7.75" wide
