Wealthometer Pressed Steel Registering Bank 1920s
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
We are offering "The Wealthometer" bank made by The Automatic Recording Safe Co. of Chicago. These banks were sold to savings banks, with their name on them, back in the 1920s. The savings banks would then give them away to young customers opening a new saving account. The bank had a good thing going since they never allowed the customer to have the key to the bank. To retrieve your savings you had to return your bank and they would open it and deposit the contents into your account. The wealthometer would receive pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, halves and currency. This is a registering bank so you always knew the amount inside. Material is nickel plated steel with riveted on advertising bank labels. Size is 3¾" long by 1¾" wide and 2¼" tall. This bank was given out by Monroe County Savings Bank of Rochester, New York. The last patent date, there are 6, on the bottom is Sept. 23, 1913. Condition is near mint with the original box. Priority shipping to the west coast will be $9.50; your ZIP may be cheaper. pc421
