Book of Knowledge Leap Frog Mechanical Bank 1960s Cast Iron
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
We are offering The Book of Knowledge 1960s reproduction of the Leap-Frog mechanical bank. In 1960, The Book of Knowledge commissioned the foundry that originally made this bank to reproduce it using the same handmade methods they did in the 1890s. The result is this beautiful cast iron mechanical bank just like the original. Cast into the bottom is REPRODUCED FROM ORIGINAL IN COLLECTION OF THE BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE. Some savings banks gave these banks away to customers in the 1960s. Below is the action of the bank: 1) Cock the leaping boy by a lever on the back moving him to the right behind the squatting boy. 2) Place a coin on in the slot on top of the stump. 3) Release the lever on the back of the bank and the jumper will leap over the stationary boy and trip a lever that allows the coin to drop into the bank. Your savings are retrieved thru a twist trap on the bottom. Base size is 7.375 inches long by 3.375 inches wide and 4.75 inches tall. This is an original Book of Knowledge bank, NOT a reproduction of the reproduction. Condition is near mint with NO breaks or repairs. Priority shipping to the west coast will be $30.65 plus insurance; your ZIP may be cheaper. pc421
