Train Boxcar Occupational Shaving Mug
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when a gentleman needed a shave, he visited his local barbershop, where the barber kept each customer's shaving mug, inscribed with his name and often decorated with an image related to his occupation, in a cabinet. This example, marked D & Co. on the bottom, identifying it as being manufactured by Deliniers in Limoges, France, is inscribed in gold Harry Carman above an image of a boxcar, indicating that he was a railroad employee.
