NuGrape Soda Tin Thermometer 1940 Diminishing Bottles
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This extremely rare NuGrape Soda thermometer dates from the 1940's and is in amazing shape! Made of thin tin, most of these thermometers were damaged by weather, then tossed in the trash. The picture on this sign is very colorful and features six Nu-Grape bottles with A Flavor You Can't Forget on the bottom, along with all the Nu-Grape flavors. The red bottom is faded slightly, with some small edge wear on the left side of the sign and the top. Some small bends in the tin from the factory where they stressed the tin above and below the thermometer area are typical for early signs. Looks like a dab of paint was dropped on the top of the thermometer, just under the Nu-Grape logo, we did not try to remove it. The mercury bulb may have been replaced, there looks to be glue on the back of the thermometer and it is reading about 5-6 degrees warmer than it should. There is the same glue on the front of the thermometer that has dripped on the first bottle and ran down to the red color change. 18301-QPTP
