Firestone Tire Ribbon Convention Tag Pittsburgh 1917
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Manufactured by Whitehead & Hoag, this one of a kind name tag was worn by M. C. Gabbel of Pittsburgh, PA. to an event in March of 1917. Dangling from a red and black silk ribbon attached to the underside of the name tag is a miniature version of a Firestone Clincher tire, a balloon tire produced by the manufacturer in the 1910s and 1920s. Framed in the center of the tire is a celluloid insert decorated with a shield emblem inscribed Most Miles Per Dollar Firestone Tires Red Side Wall Black Tread. An orange and blue enamel Firestone lapel pin is attached to the ribbon. The whole affair measures 4 3/4 inches long by 3 inches wide and is excellent condition with a nice patina. A piece of masking tape, inscribed March 1917, has been stuck onto the back of the celluloid insert. The event that the name tag was worn to is unknown. Free Shipping to USA Customers. 17125-81RTP
