Folk Art Mardi Gras Walking Parade Cane Stick with Bird
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
While we are not sure of the parade this great walking cane was in, it had to be from New Orleans type parade or a play. The head of the bird is paper mache and very fragile. The features on this birds head are amazing, and it took lots of time to make them this way. The upper beak is cracked from use, but is holding on. The back of the head has a small hole with some wear. The stick part of the cane is a heavy cardboard type of material and it has a spring loaded point in the very bottom to absorb weight, so the paper mache would not take the force of walking. This could have been used with a costume in a play, the possibilities are endless. It does have a partial decal from the manufacturer, but we only have the back half. Possibly Collins in New York. Neat folk art piece for your collection. 18402-WTP
