ITEM DESCRIPTION:

In the late 1930's Leonard refineries made technical innovation and started refining gasoline at a higher octane than their competitors. While most refineries were producing gasoline at 75 or 80 octane, Leonard Oil Company upped that in 1937 and was a leader in the industry. This gas pump plate sign features the Leonard logo with Mt. Pleasant, Mich. on the bottom. It has a small mounting hole in each corner, along with Burdick Enamel Sign Co., Inc. in the lower right corner. Some small chips are at the top of the sign with some edge wear around the outside. The sign has a rough feel to it, not a smooth feel like most of the signs we see. The back also has the same rough feel with some chips and wear. The colors are great on this rare sign and it will look amazing next to your other pump plates! 18753-WTP
