Dating from the early 1930's this very nice wooden thermometer is advertising Lash's California Kidney & Liver Bitters and Homer's California Ginger Brandy. Better Than Pills is the statement that Lash's has emphasized and their treatment cures Chills and Fever, Malaria, Biliousness & Dyspepsia They all sound bad, and I for one am certainly glad I have never been diagnosed with either of them! At the bottom Homer's California Ginger Brand is printed, which Cures Cramps - Diarrhea This thermometer was produced by The American Manufact'ng Concern in Jamestown, N.Y., who manufactured rulers, yardsticks, wood and oilcloth signs, novelties, which is printed on the back along with directions incase the tube becomes separated. The wood looks great, with just the right amount of patina on it. It looks like a small bit of wood filler was applied to the left side during the it's life. 18788-RUT
