ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Located in Lumberton, North Carolina, J. D. McMillan operated a drugstore with his son, John Duncan McMillan and provided local customers with various types of prescriptions and bathroom supplies. Located on the Lumber River, Lumberton was developed as a shipping point for the US Navy, so this sign hung close to the river port so travelers could reach out to the McMillan's for any medical needs. The upper part of this sign was a blank privilege panel until J. D. McMillan & Son added their name and location. Measuring 23.5 inches long and 11.5 inches tall, this tin sign has six mounting holes around the outer lip. Some minor chipping along the edges, especially in the corners. The lower right corner is a bit rougher than the others with a small bend and some chipping with scratches. A couple of the letters have some small chips on them. Very cool piece! 18840-TPP
