"The brutal look of Nazi invasion, seen so often at a distance, was brought to North America on Feb. 19. The scene was Winnipeg, capital of the Canadian Province of Manitoba. The fall of Winnipeg was as real as the real thing, as can be seen in the pictures shown here, taken from Paramount's brilliant newsreel by Cameraman Lucien Roy. The reason for this elaborate pretense was to shock Manitobians into subscribing $13,000,000 to Canada's $600,000,000 Victory Loan Drive. The Manitobians called their day of grim play-acting "If Day."
