ITEM DESCRIPTION:
The manufacturer of this American historical glass plate is unknown. The center features a picture of John Coulter (J. C.) Bates, a hero of the Spanish-American War. His grandfather was President Lincoln's Attorney General. The plate is quite decorative with stippling and scallops. Some have thought this plate honored Jefferson Davis due to the strong resemblance. The plate has two (2) small tab handles. There are no cracks or chips but there are a couple of straw marks-one at the shoulder on the left and the other on the back next to his face.
