Early 1900s Green River Whiskey Blotter Owensboro KY
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
In the late 1800's and early 1900's, ink blotters were on everyone's desk or table at home. When writing a letter or a check, the ink from the fountain pen was wet, so this heavy paper blotter was used to soak the ink so it would not smear on the letter that was to be mailed. Companies saw this as a great way to advertise their products and keep their name in front of the consumer or business. This blotter advertises Green River Straight Whiskey and features a great graphic on the left side featuring an elderly man standing next to a horse with a barrel of Green Whiskey hanging to its side. The right side shows a full bottle of Green River whiskey along with Owensboro, Kentucky on the label. The blotter is in good shape with a minor bend in the upper right corner, and some slight wear on the outer corners. It has not been used to blot any ink, as the back has no stains. 19143-ET
