MAHJONG VINTAGE SET KWONG FAT CHEUNG UNUSED IN CASE 40s-50s BONE & BAMBOO? NEW OLD STOCK. Made in Hong Kong. Here is a Mahjong set that I have had for 30 years made by the Kwong Fat Cheung Ivory and Mahjong Factory. It does seem complete. Most of this is still sealed in cellophane, some of the cello has broken away due to age. Everything is mint and unused. There are 144 I believe hand carved and hand painted. The tiles are 7/8" wide, 1 1/8" long and 5/8" thick. There are 4 blank tiles in cello. The chips and dice are all sealed in cello. There is the counter with Kwong Fat Cheung advertising on it. Comes with instruction book that is in great condition. I am not sure exactly what the tiles are made of might be made of Bakelite, the instruction book says they have now become made of bamboo and bone jointly engraved and filled with colors. There is an article in The Industrial History of Honk Kong Group with is a story about "The Rise and Fall of the HK Ivory Industry & Some of it's Key Players". In that article it shows almost an identical set like the one I am selling and it says it's an Ivory set. I don't know if that means Ivory colored or actual Ivory. I would really doubt that but, the information is out there to see and make you own judgement. The vinyl case is in great condition, the handle is excellent and the zipper works plus there is a snap at the top that works as well. Has all the main green drawers/ holders and side holder.
