ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This rare paper sign dates from around the turn of the twentieth century and has a wonderful black and white image of an African American waiter carrying a serving tray with a long stemmed glass and a tumbler filled with foaming root beer. The sign is inscribed Hartshorn's Root Beer Extract makes six gallons of sparkling beer For 25 Cents. The sign has metal strips attached the top to the bottom. It measures about 28 tall by14 wide and is in good condition for its age. There are a couple of repaired splits, some minor flaking and paper loss on the right edge. Some spots of darkening and discoloration as shown in the pictures. Truly a rare piece of Black Americana and hard pressed to find another example in this condition. It has been nicely framed for display and protection. The frame measures 34.5 tall by 21.25wide. 16451-71QQPP
