ITEM DESCRIPTION:

HENRY ON ELEPHANT IN BOX WINDUP TOY WITH MAHOUT CELLULOID EXC WORKS 20s-30s RARE. Henry rides the trunk of a white circus elephant with the mahout on top. All celluloid wind-up toy in the original box with the key. Made in Japan in the 1920's or 30's. The celluloid is in great condition all around. Some paint wear and a little fading here and there. Wind it up and the elephant vibrates while moving Henry to his left and then his right. Mahout is the driver of the elephant . There is an elastic cord that holds Mahout on top of the elephant from the back, due to age the elasticity is gone but, if you pull the cord through the elephants tail the second knot with keep him siting up on the elephant. Put him back so that he packs in the box easily. The box has lot of wear and tear. Missing a couple end flaps. Made in Japan and distributed by George Borgfeldt Corp who also produced many of the early Mickey Mouse/Disney toys. A very hard toy to find in any condition. Please check out my other vintage toys.
