ITEM DESCRIPTION:

The Blatz Brewing Company was one of Milwaukee's industrial brewing giants. In 1875, Blatz was the first Milwaukee brewery to have a bottling department to package beer and ship nationally. The company operated from 1851 to 1959, when it was purchased by Pabst Brewing Company. This all metal (aside from glass bottle) sign is from the 1950's and features Blatz's beer barrel man singing and playing the banjo. Behind him is a fabric curtain with the words I'm from Milwaukee... and a sign with gold and silver faux lights that reads It's Draft Brewed Blatz above him. To his right is a display bottle of Blatz beer. The bottle was glued to the display at one time, but is now loose. The sign on top of the display has a hole drilled in the middle where it was hung from a wall, along with some peeling on the right side. The barrel man has some chips on his pant leg, along with a rub mark on his nose and hands. His banjo has a crack in the neck that has been glued.
