ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Sword From Greek War of Independence 1821-29 With Scabbard. I don't know much about this sword except through whatever research I could find. It's a sword from the Greek Revolution which was successfully waged and won against the Ottoman Empire. Independence was finally granted in 1832. I would say that this is a vintage replica of at least 100 years old. It has 1821 stamped on one side of the blade. It has MANH on the other side. The dual eagle handle is made of brass. The blade is steel and the scabbard is an ornate with attractive felt and brass. It has all kinds of symbols on it like goats heads, fish head end etc. It has two black stones held on by brass fingers on each side. There is a dent towards the bottom. There is heavy wire edges as well as the hanging chain. The blade has some surface rust and a little sharp here and there so you have to be careful. This is quite large the blade is 24" long. 29" from end of blade to end of handle and 32" from end of scabbard to end of handle. It's quite heavy as well. A very interesting Greek sword.
