Cox Thimble Drome Tether Mercedes Benz Racer Gas New Old Stock. Here is a magnificent 1950's Cox Mercedes Benz Grand Prix Racer toy in the box. It appears to never have been used. The car is very clean with no cracks to the plastic. Model W-196. Almost 14 inches long. This is a gasoline powered car, the motor looks like it never seen any gas. The driver and the tether arm is still in a sealed bag with a couple screws. The bag is opened only about an inch on the top. The driver needs to be reglued together as well as the shoulders. This is from 60 to years of age. The bag would have to be fully opened to get him out. The driver is not broken, the glue is gone after all these years. Pull the steering wheel out to open the hood. The original box has the platform insert. The box has quite a bit of wear and tears. Someone put tape over most of it and that tape has dried and fallen off. This box did a great job of keeping the toy like new. One of the finest examples that you will ever see in the box. Check out my vintage toy collection and advertising.
