Charlie Tin Funny Clown Batt Operated Boxed Near Mint Works Japan. Here is a real ingenious toy called Charlie the Funny Clown made in the 1950's. Charlie rides his colorful tin car all over the place with a plastic pail in one hand and a mop in the other. (SEE THE VIDEO JUST UNDER THE DESCRIPTION) Except for the slightest bit of wear he is near mint. It's 9.5 inches long X 10.5 inches to the top of his hat. You can't use today's Alkaline batteries since they are too heavy and will weigh the back down. Back in the 50's there was only light general purpose batteries, today's general purpose battery's like Sunbeam or Kodak work well, even these are a bit heavier than the 70 year old batteries this toy was designed for. The box has lots of wear, tears and tape. There is an insert but, I am not sure it was part of the original box. Check out my vintage toy collection and advertising.
