ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This is one of the holy grails of toy collecting; Amos & Andy Fresh Air Taxi by Louis Marx from the 1930s. All lithographed tin with Andy driving and Amos enjoying a cigar in the back seat. Andys dog sits in the front seat. Toy may look in bad shape but that is the way it was made. Wind up the taxi with the attached key and it will roll forward, stop, shake rattle and roll and proceed forward once again. Very comical action since Amos, Andy and the dog are mounted to the taxi with springs, and they jiggle and bounce around as the car moves and shakes. The gear shift lever is the on/off switch. Size is 8 inches long 4 inches wide including the key and 5 inches to the top of the windshield. Toy is all original and working. Condition is excellent with minor small white paint spatters on the interior (someone had it on a shelf when they painted the room).
