ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Ernest Paul Lehmann's Naughty Boy tin toy was produced in Germany from 1904 to 1935. The wind-up car is called Vis-a-Vis where driver and passenger sat face to face. This type of vehicle would have been on the streets of Berlin, Germany in the 1910 era. Lehmann probably saw a young boy interfering with his father driving by playing with the steering teller. This was his inspiration to produce the toy. All lithographed tin, with hand painted figures, the toy is 5 inches long. The width is 3 inches, and the man is 4.25 inches tall. When wound with the attached key the Vis-a-Vis moves forward erratically as the boy plays with the steering tiller. Condition is very good with minor rust and paint lost on the boy.
