Brandt 1920s Universo Coin Paying Machine Fully Working Rare
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Brandt 1920s Universo Coin Paying Machine Fully Working Rare. This item is an antique Brandt "Universo Coin Paying Machine" (changer). I believe this is a very early model, dating back to the 1920's or earlier. The two name plates say: "Patent Applied For, Universo Coin Paying Machine, Manufactured by Brandt Manufacturing Co., Watertown, Wis., USA" The "o" in Universo is adorned with iconic "wings." One thing that makes me think it's a very early model is the fact that later models specify patent numbers rather than "patent applied for." Also, later models are called "coin changers" rather than "coin payers." It is very heavy and the construction looks somewhat primitive compared to later models, with thick, flat metal panels and screws, rather than molded panels. It is in excellent condition, heavy brown metal, one edge is a little bent. Miraculously all the denomination buttons are still there and work. Each button dispensed the correct change except the half dollar because I didn't have one, the dispense rod does work. Has both name plates. Has all 4 original legs as well as the rubber now very brittle rubber foot pad. One rubber foot pad is missing. It is basically an old-fashioned manual change machine. Stack coins in the back, press the keys, and the coins slide down the platform and out the side. This saved time back in the day to make change. It measures 20" wide including shoot x 6.5" deep x 12" tall. It's quite large and weighs almost 14 pounds. A great early American business machine! The machine will be shipped with the shoot disconnected. Over 100 years old. Check out my vintage toy collection and advertising. Please ask any questions that you may have. Thank you, Dave ......No Tax charged. Only accepting non fee payments, Paypal family and friends (no credit cards) due to new tax laws. I will also accept a personal check or postal money order.
