Maui the Last Hawaiian Place, HC With DJ, 1970 1st Edition
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Maui, The Last Hawaiian Place, Photographs by Robert Wenkam. This book is a counterpoint of photographs and words that portray Robert Wenkam's love for the Hana and the wild Kipahulu country, the last refuge of Hawaiian wilderness and tradition, and for the people there, now and long ago. In Hana, on East Maui, is the last chance to preserve a sizeable piece of the old Hawaii, a last chance for the descendants of the Marquesan voyagers who discovered these islands to know something like their heritage.........Photos and words of love for Hana and the wild Kipahulu country----a book as beautiful as the island itself!! This is a very large (13.75 X 10.75) hardcover only stated Friends of the Earth Edition 1970 which after some research feel strongly that it's a first edition. The dustjacket has some light yellowing and a tear at the bottom with some other light edge and surface wear. The book is in excellent condition except it doesn't quite lay 100% flat but it is very close just a bit of a wobble to be 100% accurate. There are no rips, tears, markings, etc. and the pages and binding are tight. This is a hard to find book in this condition with the dustcover. Maui the Last Hawaiian Place [Hardcover] Robert Wenkam (Author), Kenneth Brower (Editor), Charles A. Lindbergh (Introduction), David R. Brower (Preface) Published by McCall 1970. Starting bid at the original price of $27.50 51 years ago. Please ask any question that you may have. Thank you, Dave
