Item: Dresser Brush Celluloid Box Couple and Dog Design
Celluloid dresser box . Circa late Victorian era celluloid dresser box that held a comb, brush, and mirror. On the lid it has a romantic image of a young man, on his knees, wooing a pretty young lady with a bouquet of flowers. They are seated on the sea shore with the ocean in the background. The rest of the box is decorated with garlands of what appear to be dogwood blossoms. The Bottom and sides of the box are covered in paper, rather than celluloid, and are decorated with the same floral garlands. The inside of the box is covered in silk and has mounts for the dresser items. It is in good condition with some wear, fading, and loss on the paper covers. The mounts inside have come unglued and need to be reattached. The celluloid lid is a little discolored and has some light scratching. The celluloid is cracked along the back edge. 7216-TP
