Item: Thomas Automobile Grille Covers Store Display
This rare wire counter top display stand dates from the early 1940s and originally held a selection of Thomas Monogrammed Grille Covers. Before the days of high temperature automobile thermostats, these cloth covers were placed over the car's grille in the winter time so the car would run warmer and the heater would work better. Similar covers are still seen on semi trucks. The display is bright blue with green and white trim and has art deco style columns on the top panel. The bottom panel is decorated with 3 circles inscribed Motor Warms Up Quicker,Easily Attached, and More Efficiency from your Car Heater. There is a paper sheet, listing applications from 1934 through 1941, attached to the back of the top panel. The display measures about 26 inches tall by 19 1/4 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches deep and is in excellent condition with minor nicks and scratches and a slight bow in the wire frame. 16659-41EE
