Item: Service Station Counter Metal Cabinet Display Tung-Sol Lamps
Dating from the late 1940s or early 1950s, this brightly colored tin case would have been displayed on the counter of a service station or auto parts store. It is dark blue with orange and yellow lettering and highlights, has three shelves in the back, and has a curved top. There is an image of cars traveling a country road on a dark, starry night on the front panel, along with the inscription Tung - Sol Lamps for Safer Driving. Images of a sealed beam headlight and smaller marker and brake light bulbs run across the bottom of the panel. The side panels have images of turning cars and the inscription Tung - Sol direction signal flasher for safety in turning. The display cabinet measures twenty inches tall by fourteen inches wide by seven and a half inches deep and is in excellent condition with some nicks and scratches on the front and side panels. The blue background color is somewhat faded and oxidized from sunlight exposure. The other colors are still sharp and bright. 16413-71TPP
