Item: Early Child Slate Backed Wooden Rocking Chair
This 1870's-1890's unusually styled child's rocking chair dates from the late 19th century and is made primarily from maple and poplar. It has a solid back made from narrow vertical slats finished in alternating light and dark shades. The seat is made of similar narrow slats mounted from side to side. It has wide, flat arm rests with arts with crafts style mortise joints in the front. The rungs are plain round turnings and there are simple ball finials on the back. The chair measures 26 tall by 17 1/2 wide and is in excellent condition with a nice old finish. Four of the seat slats have been replaced. 13648-UT
