Item: Herald Cadillac Automobile Hood Ornament 1929
This very rare Cadillac hood ornament is made in the form or a medieval herald blowing a trumpet. He has a Cadillac emblem on his tunic and Cadillac is cast into the sash hanging from his horn. The cobblestone base has a 1925 copyright date embossed in it, but my research leads me to feel that this hood ornament may have been used in 1929 only and on the dual cowl phaeton only. Most Cadillacs of this era had a type of flowing lady hood ornament. There certainly aren't many examples out there. The hood ornaments were very fragile and had a tendency to break off at the ankles, as has this example. It was long ago welded back together, but now leans back at an angle. It measures about six and a half inches tall by four inches wide and has been mounted onto a round wooden base for display. 15537-51WWP
