Item: Royal Bayreuth Sunbonnet Babies Ironing Pitcher Vintage
Lovely little children in this circa early 1900's Royal Bayreuth Sunbonnet Babies cream pitcher. Sunbonnet Babies were created by Bertha L. Corbett, an American artist, in the early 1900's. She had no confidence in her ability to draw faces, so she added sunbonnets to hide them. She wanted her art to inspire children to develop healthy personal character traits and teach them daily chores (washing, ironing, sewing, sweeping, dusting, baking, fishing, and going to church). This creamer has an image of two girls ironing and folding laundry with a lattice fence in the background. It has the Royal Bayreuth mark on the bottom and is in excellent condition with some wear on the gold trim. 3228-90QUW
